Educational process

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport trains specialists in the engineering and transport industries who are able to make decisions independently, achieve their goals, have the skills to master knowledge on their own, to improve their professional skills individually. A high level of training is provided, including by the results of independent work of students (IWS).

The student’s independent work is provided by a system of teaching aids, which includes:

  • JetIQ system with materials;
  • training and working training programs;
  • adapted work plans;
  • textbooks, teaching and methodical manuals, monographs;
  • professional periodicals and electronic manuals;
  • distance learning courses;
  • methodical manuals for writing term and final qualification works;
  • tests and situational exercises;
  • methodical recommendations on the organization of IWS;
  • computer application packages.

Planning of independent work of students is carried out:

  • in the curricula of specialties and specializations, which determines the number of hours taken on the IWS in the disciplines;
  • in curricula and working curricula of disciplines, which determine the list and content of topics with reference to sources of information, hours on IWS, individual tasks, topics of essays, typical tasks and control questions for colloquia and modules, list of questions for tests and exams, general and additional bibliographies;
  • in the work plans of teachers in each discipline, which contains topics presented at the IWS, hours of IWS and a list of recommended reading.

Implementation of IWS control:

The effectiveness of the use of credit-module system of education with the priority role of independent work of students is confirmed by the results of monitoring:

  • current and intersessional control (lectures, practical, laboratory and seminar classes, the results of tests, tests, abstracts, passing colloquia, modules, defense of course projects and works);
  • session control;
  • rector’s control of students’ residual knowledge;
  • on the defense of final bachelor’s, diploma and master’s theses;
  • positive feedback from the place of employment of graduates.

Cycles of disciplines for which rector’s tests are conducted:

  • cycle of humanities and socio-economic disciplines;
  • cycle of natural sciences and fundamental disciplines;
  • cycle of professionally-oriented or general-professional disciplines;
  • cycle of independent choice of disciplines of higher educational institution;
  • cycle of free choice by students.

The main tasks of the curator of the system:

  • acquaintance of students with normative-methodical materials (information package), which regulate the organization of the educational process according to the credit-module system (CMS);
  • providing recommendations to students on the formation of their individual learning trajectory;
  • approval of the individual curriculum of the student and its submission for approval to the Deputy Dean;
