GREENE

GREENE, short for SINGLE-GRAIN RE-ENGINEERED ND-FE-B PERMANENT MAGNETS, is an EU-funded project focused on pioneering advancements in high-performance permanent magnets, re-engineering their microstructure to make them more powerful while at the same time reducing Rare Earth (RE) content. Led by the Slovenian Jožef Stefan Institute, our consortium of 15 European partners is tackling the environmental and supply challenges associated with these crucial components of high-tech products that power a green energy future, such as e-vehicles and wind turbines.

The inspiration for VNTU scientists’ participation and the project team leader from our university was Prof. Oleksandr HRUSHKO, D.Sc. (Tech.), Head of the Department of Strength of Materials, Theoretical Mechanics and Engineering Graphics. Thanks to his research background, experience, and established international connections, Oleksandr Hrushko laid the groundwork for VNTU scientists’ participation in this project.

On June 4 and 5, 2024, the GREENE Kick-Off Meeting was held in Slovenia (Bohinj), regarding the project No. 101129888 “SINGLE-GRAIN RE-ENGINEERED ND-FE-B PERMANENT MAGNETS”.
The meeting was attended by a consortium of 15 research organizations and enterprises from Slovenia, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Ukraine. There were also four industrial partners, including the world-renowned company BOSH, and the project coordinator was the Josef Stefan Institute (Ljubljana, Slovenia).
